I love chocolate. I mean, let’s be honest, who doesn’t love chocolate. You show me a person who doesn’t like chocolate and I’ll show you a liar. Fine, there are people out there who don’t prefer chocolate, but all of us have issues. I mean, it’s chocolate, it’s good with everything and makes you feel better. There’s also scientific proof that it’s a little good for you too. As far as chocolate and cupcakes go, I have made all kinds mixed with all sorts of different flavors. For example, there’s a chocolate cupcake with chocolate raspberry frosting and vanilla cream filling.
Or Devil’s food cupcake with raspberry frosting and custard filling,
even peanut butter chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter chocolate frosting.
For another famous combo, I’ve made a chocolate cupcake with mint frosting and chocolate mint filling
and mint cupcake with chocolate frosting.
If you like to mix it up when it comes to chocolate cupcakes, there’s always the white velvet cupcake with chocolate buttercream (in white, you know, so you can keep your chocolate hidden), or white velvet with an orange cream frosting. You can’t really go wrong with chocolate orange.
But if you are insistent that you really do hate chocolate and none of these sound appetizing, I’ve recently also tried my take on some classics, cupcake style. There’s an angel food cupcake with strawberry frosting or a banana cupcake with caramel frosting or a pineapple inside out cupcake.
Finally, for those that are feeling a bit more eclectic, I’ve devised a maple cupcake with vanilla frosting and chocolate covered bacon chips and while I don’t have a picture of the cupcake itself, here’s a picture of the delicious topping in whole form.
(and you thought I forgot about the chocolate)
Wow, that’s a lot of cupcakes, but alas there are more famous combos that I have yet to try and I am always open to suggestions and ideas.
And now we’ve reached the part where I tell you about the new flavors I’ll be trying per your suggestions (and a tiny poll taken at my work). And the winners are:
cherry cordial and chicken & waffles.
That’s right, chicken & waffles. The cupcake itself will be a waffle flavored with maple frosting sprinkled with fried chicken skin. Yes, fried chicken skin. The combo of sweet and salty should be delicious. The cherry cordial cupcake is a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting filled with a cherry filling (I’m thinking something like a jam). I’ve also been tossing around the idea of a S’mores cupcake that would be a chocolate cupcake with marshmallow frosting and graham cracker crumbs on top.
Anyway, thank you all for you submissions and like I mentioned before, feel free to contact me any time with other ideas for delicious combos. Check back next week to see how my experiments went!
